An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction.
Heritage Bank’s standard practice is to provide all eligible checking accounts with Standard Heritage Overdraft Coverage. This is a discretionary program where we will strive to pay your checks and automatic payments when you don’t have enough funds in your account to cover the transaction(s). Our standard insufficient funds/overdraft fee of $34 per item (up to 6 per business day) may apply.
With standard overdraft coverage, the Bank authorizes and pays overdrafts for the following transactions up to the account limit:
Our standard coverage does not automatically include coverage for ATM and one-time debit card transactions. To extend your coverage to your ATM and one-time debit card transactions that might overdraw your account, you must opt in to Enhanced Overdraft Coverage.
We also offer overdraft protection plans, such as linking to a savings account and/or a line of credit, which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft practices.
Under our standard overdraft practices, we may charge you an insufficient funds/overdraft fee of up to $34 each time we pay an overdraft, with a maximum of 6 per business day.
